Just a few tips to help make online counselling a little easier:
Privacy! Make sure you are in a private space you feel comfortable to talk openly with me in. Somewhere you won't be interrupted. This may even be a car, which is absolutely fine however, I do as that you ensure you are parked up safely and ideally somewhere that not a lot of people will walk past you as this may cause anxiety and interruptions.
DND? I often advice clients to put their phone/laptop on do not disturb or mute so that if notifications come through they do not distract your from your session or interrupt your flow.
Get comfy! Find a comfortable warm place for you to do the session from, either in your home or in the car with the heating on or a blanket. The more comfortable you are physically the easier it will be to talk to me over video.
Thirsty? Make yourself a brew or a drink beforehand, I do not mind you having this during our sessions at all, sometimes it's a nice buffer.
Connected? Check your internet connection/signal is good from where you're sitting, the last thing you want is to be anxious about us not being able to hear each other! If you are using headphones, again check these are connected properly and charged fully if wireless.
